HAYOUN NOH
HCI Researcher

Hi,
I am a third-year PhD candidate at the University of Oxford in the Human-Centered AI group within the Department of Computer Science, advised by Prof. Max Van Kleek from Oxford and Prof. Younah Kang from Yonsei University.
Alongside my doctoral studies, I am a Research Affiliate at the MIT Media Lab's Tangible Media Group and am employed as a full-time HCI researcher at Yonsei University, leading a government-funded research project.
As an HCI researcher, I am investigating the intersection between technology and mental health, specifically exploring how social technologies can better support the needs of under-represented individuals undergoing life transitions and how they can be redesigned or reconfigured to support identified needs, from the lens of reclaiming their control over self-presentation and privacy in a hyper-mediated society. Additionally, I am particularly interested in designing technologies that help us navigate the complexities of our fast-paced lives, offering opportunities for pause, reflection, and a deeper appreciation of the experiences that are valuable to us.
